For Kafka I didn’t mind to write some wrappers myself. But I used the Java client before so it was pretty easy. It’s pretty hard to write a wrapped in a more general sense, for a couple of reasons. I actually build a Java wrapper, making it more easy to connect. But with all the different ways to configure the server’s and the clients, is hard to make something easy to use, without doing some assumptions on the server configuration. In the case of Kafka it’s probably best to have a company specific wrapper.
